So I got married recently and in preparation for the wedding my biggest concern was getting “that glow”. I wanted my skin to look as radiant!

So I set out to get my glow….

I quickly discovered that everyone has different approaches, but the end goal is the same in terms of how they want their skin to look: healthy, glowy, and youthful.
I wanted to use only the best ingredients both on my skin and in my body. Being a Registered Holistic Nutritionist I knew that – Not only would it involve my skin care routine but it would need to include the way I ate; as this combination would make the biggest difference.

Here, are the skincare tips and strategies, along with my one of my favorite recipes that I used to get healthy, glowy, ageless skin.

Skincare Tip: The most important element is sunscreen. The sun’s rays seriously accelerate aging; a regular routine with sunscreen in the morning will keep you younger-looking, longer, than anything else – it’s never too late to start.

I love moisturizer and oils; I apply them all day long, whenever I think of it. Moisturizer plumps up lines, increases elasticity. I absolutely love serums with antioxidants like vitamins C and E, that have a huge reparative impact on skin. I’m especially into vitamin C, so I often apply it topically in a serum it really brightens and clarifies your skin.

I only use oil cleanser to avoid drying out my skin. Believe me, It doesn’t make you break out. Remember Science class? Like dissolves like – It leaves your skin soft and calm instead of tight and irritated. I cleanse mostly at night—your skin generally isn’t dirty when you wake up, so I use a rosehip oil cleanser and then add a C & E serum and top with sunscreen.

I exfoliate in with Clarisonic brush, most evenings, especially when I’ve been wearing makeup which gets rid of the extra dead skin cells and leaves your skin fresh and glowy.

I think food makes an enormous difference in the look of your skin, obviously. Eating excessive amounts of sugar starts an inflammatory process that’s accelerating the aging process in the long-term, it can leave you looking puffy. Inflammation has been proven to be a huge factor in the way your skin ages,  so anti-inflammatory foods help—my favourites are turmeric, ginger and avocados.

I drink warm lemon water with ginger slices, I add turmeric to my salad dressings and smoothies along with eating avocado daily.

Speaking of avocados … fats have gotten a really bad name for so long, and I believe they’re crutial, especially for people with aging skin: Avocado, olive, and coconut oils all work wonders for your skin and balancing your hormone levels. Tip: Eat wild salmon 3 times per week to fight inflammation with omega 3 essential fatty acids.

I not only add antioxidants topically with my serums but I eat them too – I eat vegetables and fruit and nuts as part of my daily diet. Tip: Enjoy one dark green and one orange vegetable daily.

Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and a delicious spice to add to almost anything.

This latte is pure comfort, the rich coconut, a little salty a little sweet, warm, and spicy:

Turmeric Skin drink

What you need: One cup of coconut milk, half a teaspoon of ground turmeric, half a tablespoon of ground ginger, a quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract and maple syrup or honey to taste.

Directions: Add all the ingredients in a small saucepan and whisk until combined. Turn the heat to medium high and whisk vigorously until it begins to foam–but never allow it to boil. When the thickness is to your liking, remove from the heat and pour into a mug.

Here are the products I used for 1 year prior to my nuptials to get my glow and they have quickly become my favorite skin care lines.

The Skin Essence products are 100% organic, cruelty-free, and made of plant, fruit and vegetable extracts, essential oils and minerals. Their products are never filled with water and are stored in tinted glass bottles to protect from UV light damage and avoid leaching from chemicals found in plastics. They leave my skin nourished, and vibrant. I love that their products are high-quality, but also affordable.

My favorites are the Fresh Facial Cleanser, Pure Rosehip oil, Nourish Moisturizer and Occular Eye Serum and I can’t forget the Facial in a Jar. I also keep the Vitamin e cream with me at all times for my hands.

I love their products so much that I decided to reach out to ask if they would collaborate with me and offer my friends a discount – You can shop the Skin Essence Organics products here and use code “Tanya” to get 15% off your order. http://www.skinessenceorganics.com/Shipping is free on orders over $50 in the US and Canada. They also offer worldwide shipping.

My favourite C & E Serum is the Kale & Citrus from Eminence Organics – which I use every morning after oil cleansing with the Skin Essence Rosehip Oil. https://eminenceorganics.com/ca
